Bloggity blog 10

I know I've been neglecting my blog but if you took a look at my day planner you'd cringe too. I've decided that doing a ten day blog challenge, starting tomorrow, will be a good (more importantly easy) way to get back on track. I have some great events coming up in the next few months so I need to be at the top of my blogging game. I borrowed the template from here. Until tomorrow!

Here's to 2012...

Since I have always wondered about the song they play at midnight on New Year's Eve, I decided to do some reasearch. According to the Huffington Post, Auld Lang Syne is a Scottish poem, thought to be composed by Scottish poet and lyricist Robert Burns in 1788 and it represents saying goodbye to the past year. Auld Lang Syne literally translates to "Old Long Since," and more roughly it means "long, long ago" or "days gone by."

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you'll buy your pint cup !
and surely I'll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Happy New Year!
Here's to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old;
here's to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold.

Happy Holidays!

The most wonderful time of the year

This weekend, Courtney went to a free holiday concert at the Guggenheim featuring the Vox Vocal Ensemble and the Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble. It was a neat venue because of way the Guggenheim rotunda spirals up.
The music was beautiful, and they let the audience join in on a few songs. I also scored an awesome deal on a super warm down jacket from Lands End this weekend, it was on sale plus an additional 40% off... hello $100 coat for $25! Ignore the ugly mustard color in the picture, I got it in black.
I think I will most definitely need it over the break, Utah is currently 10-15 degrees cooler than New York and there is snow in the forecast for the weekend. I'm okay with a white Christmas, which I can't believe is only a few days away. I'm not looking forward to my travel day today, but I'm really excited to see my family and furbabies. I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday week! I know my plans include copious amounts of hot cocoa, cuddling by the tree, and eating 'real' food (thanks mom!). Feliz Navidad!

I will be home for Christmas in exactly a week :)

Fa la la la la Lu and Lolls

Last weekend Courtney and I experienced a whole lot of Christmas spirit, NYC style! We checked out the amazing Christmas display windows at the big department stores, including the Lady Gaga Workshop. We also stopped by the Rockefeller Center tree and discovered the best/cheapest way to make our own microwave popcorn (read: addicted).
We have big holiday plans for next weekend as well, stay tuned.

Thanksgiving

I am so thankful for a wonderful (close-knit and crazy) family and kittenwhiskers, the best friends a girl could have, a great city to live in and the gorgeous November weather we are having, the ability to get a degree in something I love, the technology that lets me keep in touch with people who are far away, and as finals approach I am especially thankful for sweatpants and microwavable dinners from Trader Joe's.
xo!

Foto Fun

So I was Facebook creeping on my BFF Courtney and I couldn't help but laugh as I looked through an photo album she has entitled "East Coast." I thought I would share a few of my favorites!
